Jayne and Sean have extensive practical experience in this field, both having worked in the industry for over 25 years and offer a friendly, knowledgeable service with all the expertise, advice and guidance you will need.

Jayne and Sean have been close friends for many years, working together on several projects before setting up in business together.

They often discussed the prospect of opening a store to utilise their creative expertise and knowledge gained from many years of working within the industry and with the closure of the David Morgan store, where Sean was the Senior Buyer & Manager of the soft-furnishing department, Jayne and Sean seized upon this golden opportunity to realise their own ambitions.

David Morgan’s management supported them by donating shop fittings and providing valuable advice and the store was opened on March 1st 2005.

JAYNE has worked within the soft furnishing and interior decorating sector over 24 years.

In the early part of her career Jayne worked in the financial sector, gaining extensive management, accounting and IT skills during a 15 year period.

Having spent her spare time following her love of design, sewing, decorating, art and crafts, she made the decision to start her own business in this field in 1989.

Initially, Jayne’s business was as a wedding dress designer and maker, but following several very successful interior decorating projects for friends as well as her own home she was delighted to find that her sewing and decorating skills were in demand in the interiors sector.

Jayne specialised in making bespoke curtains and other soft-furnishings, providing a complete measuring, making and fitting service for her clients.

She was also frequently found wallpapering, painting, stencilling, laying a patio, tiling, assembling kitchen or bedroom units, or plumbing-in a bathroom! In fact, any kind of arty project was of interest, much to her customers’ amazement!

Jayne met Sean when she was brought in to assist on an interior design programme Sean was developing for B&Q Warehouse.

She continued to build on her considerable portfolio, gaining a reputation for producing imaginative, beautifully finished window treatments and soft-furnishings for her clients and she has designed and project managed several commercial refurbishment projects.

Her IT and accounting skills are put to good use as she takes care of the financial side of the business and Jayne’s sewing and design knowledge has been instrumental in ensuring that Home Zone's workrooms provide a high level of workmanship.

SEAN has worked in the decorating and soft furnishings field for over 20 years.

Sean initially trained in specialist decorative paint techniques, and ran his own successful business,  creating wonderful ‘trompe l’oeil’, rag rolling, marbling, layered stencilling and wood graining.

In 1994 Sean won ‘The Best New Business’ award, run by the Prince’s Youth Business Trust.

He then moved to B&Q Warehouse as Senior Interior Design Consultant, developing an interior design concept for the B&Q organisation, which was then carried through as standard within that chain of stores.

During this time he met Jayne, who was brought in to cover the soft-furnishing aspect of the programme.

Sean then continued to further enhance his career by managing a well-known fabric outlet, Calico, where he completely redesigned the retail environment to enhance the customers shopping experience.

His next move was to David Morgan as assistant buyer for the soft-furnishing department.

During this time he completed a business management course at Oxford University and he was quickly promoted to Senior Buyer and Manager, creating a highly successful department, with a customer focused attitude.

When the news came that David Morgan was closing, the management team, who held Sean in very high regard, stepped forward to help Sean and Jayne in their new venture and have continued their support by becoming customers of Home Zone.

Sean is an accomplished artist and a keen diy-er. His interest in art & design, as well as his management skills, are put to good use in looking after Home Zone’s clients.

Once met, never forgotten!!!!
